Origin and quality of tea

The taste and properties of matcha depend on the growing region. Our matcha comes from Shizuoka Prefecture, which is famous for producing tea with a balanced, slightly sweet flavor profile.

Chasen (茶筅) is a traditional bamboo whisk used to prepare matcha tea in the Japanese tea ceremony. It is an essential tool that allows for a perfectly foamed and velvety consistency of the beverage.

Chasen is an item made from a single piece of bamboo, precisely cut and shaped into thin fibers. The number of fibers (prongs) can vary – the more there are, the easier it is to achieve a delicate foam. The most common variants are:

  • 80-pronged (80 prongs) – most commonly used, ideal for daily matcha preparation.
  • 100-pronged and more – for a fluffier foam, used in tea ceremonies.
  • Chasen with fewer prongs (e.g., 50-pronged) – intended for thicker matcha.

The set includes an 80-pronged chasen, ideal for achieving perfectly foamed matcha.

Chasen (茶筅) – traditional matcha whisk

Chasen is a handmade bamboo whisk used to prepare matcha tea in a traditional way. It is an indispensable element of the Japanese tea ceremony and allows for thorough mixing of matcha powder with water, creating a perfectly foamed, velvety beverage.

Natural material – Made from a single piece of bamboo, without the use of glues or artificial substances.

Handmade production – Each whisk is carved by artisans, which ensures its exceptional quality and durability.

Perfect foam – The delicate, thin fibers of the chasen give matcha a creamy consistency and a deep aroma.

To make the chasen last as long as possible, it should be rinsed with water after each use and dried in an airy place, preferably on a special chasen naoshi stand. ☕✨
